Online Marketing
Hello, Venturepreneurs™!

Can your customers find you?

As you all know, part of starting a new business is promoting it to the world so as to gain new customers. Gone are the days that we open a telephone directory to find our local dentists, repair shops, doctors, jewelry stores, etc. Rapid, evolving technology has changed the way we promote our businesses. Online or digital marketing is what gets you noticed. Below is a list of some, but not all of the sites your business could be registered on to obtain a higher ranking on the web:

Angies List
EZ Local
Super Pages

YIKES ! This list is exhaustive but you can pick and choose.
Some are free and some will cost you.

Today, I am sharing a website I found, called Thumbtack, that’s producing results in my business. (I am not paid to promote them!)
In summary, Thumbtack is a business-to-consumer matchup site, similar to Angie’s List.
Thumbtack matches the needs of consumers with business suppliers who are registered on Thumbtack.

It is free to list your business.

When a consumer requests a quote from you, the business owner must pay to send that quote to the consumer.
The consumer will receive quotes from other businesses, as well, who are bidding on the same project.
The consumer will have the choice to choose the business they want to work with.
If the consumer does not accept your quote, you will get the majority of your money back in the form of credits to be used toward future quoting.
If the consumer accepts your quote, your relationship with the consumer begins and Thumbtack is no longer involved.

A little suggestion when listing your business online…..

  • Add media pictures to add more value.
  • Tell a bit of your story to add more insight.
  • Post reviews to set you apart!

Your profile should jump off the pages with Excitement, Experience, and Interest!

Add in a bonus to the consumer and you are ready for business.

Below are a few POWERFUL questions for you to consider when creating your profile:

  • How does your business profile make the consumer feel?
  • What mental image does a consumer form when reading your profile for the first time?
  • Are your pictures professional in appearance?
  • What adjectives would a first-time reader use to describe you and your business?
  • Why would the consumer buy your services compared to others?
  • Is your quote competitive?
  • What value are you adding to the consumer?

How your words and pictures make the consumer “feel” is more important than what you sell.

Genuine sincerity is evident, even in the wording and tone.

If you have a favorite online directory you’d like to share with us, please do so in the comments.

Make It a Great Day!
